It just doesn't get any better than this !
Sunday's "Florida Alps Ride" was what rides are all about. Our riders enjoyed mid sixty degree temperatures at the 9:45 AM riders meeting. Cool but not cold and with very little humidity. By day's end we covered over two hundred miles of rural roads. No interstate riding here. Mostly just two lane country back roads. We headed northeastward out of Pinellas county into Hillsborough county. Then into Pasco county, followed by Hernando, Citrus and Sumtner counties. Up and down the many hills of these areas. The twisting roller coaster roadways limited our speeds to 25-45 mph. Riding along at these speeds gave us a chance to enjoy the many sights that the countryside we passed through had to offer - cattle, citrus groves, numerous lakes, pastureland with recently bailed hay, and it goes on and on. Only an occasional four wheeler coming the other direction made us aware that we weren't the only folks on the road. By lunch time the temperature had risen into the low seventies. Did I say perfect riding conditions ? It has been just one of those days that motorcycles are made for. Seven hours of pure enjoyment. Good friends and a safe ride. |
