The Florida District Gathering 2007

This year's GWRRA Florida District Gathering in Kissimmee, Florida can be summed up with one word - Terrific !

Over 1400 GWRRA members amassed at the Radisson Maingate in Kissimmee, Florida for what turned out to be a great weekend. The Florida district staff did an excellent job of planning, organizing and putting on a rally that was fabulous. Lots of program activities, vendors and at a location that was top notch.

The weather was almost perfect.  Rain showers accompanied a cold front that came through Friday night. Fortunately there was a brief break in the weather that permitted the lighted bike parade to go on as scheduled. Saturday's rains were brief and for the most part were only a slight inconvenience. By noon time the weather had cleared and the chapter challenges were held in the warm sun and cool northerly breezes.

There were members from GWRRA chapters as far away as Canada. Lots of awards and recognitions were presented at the closing ceremonies. Multiple large dollar prizes were won by some of the attendees.   And the 2007 Goldwing...it was won by a member in Tennessee.

In addition to the many activities that were held during the rally, those that attended the closing ceremonies were entertained by recording artist Jim Hubbard and an entertainer representing Elvis singing many of his songs. Both entertainers kept the audience spellbound.

Chapter FL1-M was well represented and its members won a number of awards. Jim Jackson (Pops) and Joe Hudd won individual awards for their bikes.  Those members that were able to attend had a good time. Jerry and Jack kept us laughing. Rich attempted to steer us out of trouble. Everyone spent more than they should have. Lots of safety chrome was bought. Everyone left with smiles on their faces.

Certainly this was one of those gatherings that we've come to enjoy.
