May -  Motor Awareness month  and a special way of supporting it.

Motorcycle safety got a stamp of approval on Monday May 2nd at the Safety Harbor Post Office.  Members of the Suncoast Wings Gold Wing.Chapter FL1-M and the Safety Harbor Post Office partnered to bring a one-of-a-kind pictorial cancellation stamp to remind the public the importance of motorcycle safety. People need to be aware that there are motorcycles on the road. LOOK TWICE before pulling out in your car.

Not only does the specially designed cancellation stamp serve as a safety reminder to residents, it is also a collector's item. The stamp used was drawn by David Smith of Statesville, NC and includes 2 Gold Wing GL1800 motorcycles facing each other. At the top of the stamp, the words "Motorcycle Awareness Station" appear with the date and "Safety Harbor, FL 34695."

After the Safety Harbor Post Office received the picture, Brian Strasser, Postmaster sent it off to a district USPS office where it was made into a cancellation stamp.

Riders from the FL1-M Gold Wing Chapter were present at the Post Office to remind the public about motorcycle safety (May is Motorcycle Awareness Month).
